Halloween Party (backdated like a mofo)

The theme for this year's annual Halloween Bash is Heroes and Villains. The club has been redecorated for the evening, and it seems as though each corner has a different theme. And we're not talking the campy sixties type stuff, but the more recent movies from both Marvel and DC.

One half of the room is DC, complete with areas that look like the Batcave, the Fortress of Solitude, Arkham Asylum, and the Legion of Doom's lair, which has dartboards that have various heroes faces on them.

The other half of the room has the Avenger's Tower, The ship from Guardian's of the Galaxy, a throne in space with Thanos, and Hydra's lair.

They all meet in the middle at the dance floor, which gives off a kind of supernatural glow that seems to throb along with the music.

All the employees are dressed for the theme, as various heroes and villian's sidekicks and henchment.

"I am always impressed with your choice of drink. Not everyone knows what sloe gin is. This included bartenders." He says with a grin as he gets her the drink and puts it on her napkin. "Are you trying to say that I look older than dirt in my beard?"

"You're the one who introduced it to me," she grins back. "Thanks."

Mia chuckles after taking a sip. "No! You don't look old with it. Handsome, though. This look is just different."

"Well, thank you. You look very fetching in this outfit. Are those real weapons?" He asks because she doesn't look like she's wearing a replica like James is.

"All very real, and thank you."

At least a couple of her weapons definitely aren't from this planet.

"That's completely mental." He says with a smile because he is very impressed with it, "I don't suppose you can show me what they do."

It takes her a second to remember some of the lingo from other cultures here and then smiles. "Of course I can. Probably safest out back, if you're not too busy behind the bar?"

He tsks, "I can't really leave right now but I am very impressed with your outfit. Is it, otherworldly?"

"Some other time, then." She gestures at her outfit. "This was a jumpsuit I already owned, but I honestly don't remember where I got it. It probably does come from my galaxy, though."

"Do you often wear jumpsuits for your job?" He asks.

"Not jumpsuits so much as military combat fatigues, but the jumpsuits do come in handy."

"Spy work, I'd imagine." he says. "Have you seen Jamie, yet? I haven't seen her but I'm sure she wants to talk to you."

"I can't confirm or deny that," she jokes, but there's some truth to that.

Mia glances over her shoulder as if Jamie will suddenly appear. "I haven't yet either but I should find her. What's her costume?"

He believes her.

"I don't know. We left separately. She hasn't seen me like this either." he admits.

Mia's eyebrow raises. "Really? She hasn't seen you without your beard?"

"So I have to guess what she dressed as? Or I can cheat and text her."

"She hasn't. Ever." He says with a grin before he nods, "Yes, I'm sure you could. Don't tell me who she is, though. I want to be just as surprised."

"I wish I could see her face when she sees yours," Mia grins. "And I won't tell you who she is. Promise."

"Thank you, Mia. I appreciate that." He says, "So, tell me. How are you? That is if you want to confess to a humble priest. Or, just to an Irish bartender."

Her smile is a bit crooked and sad. "I've been better. But I've also been worse." She takes a long drink from her glass.

"It sounds like you need another drink." He says as he brings her a full glass. "Jamie doesn't tell me anything about your friendship with her. I don't know any of your conversations. I don't really know but you are a friend and if you need any of us to kill someone for you or help you in any way, I'm sure that you can come to us for assistance."

There's a faint smile on her face as she says this, and a slightly dangerous glint in her eyes that disappears quickly. "I don't need anyone to kill for me, but I appreciate you saying that. I'm always here if you guys need anything at all."

She sighs and thanks him for the second drink. "I found out my ex didn't ever cheat on me. We aren't getting back together. But I still care about him. Basically the whole thing sucks."

Mia's brow furrows as she thinks back, but the alcohol is taking effect, blurring her thoughts. Just as she wanted. "Right now I can't even remember."

"I don't know what to say about that except if that you aren't getting together with him after finding out this news, are you happily with someone else?"
